Thrilled about the possibilties of mobility in combination with Computer Science, while being fascinated about transporting millions of people from A to B on a daily basis, I gladly took the chance to work in the area of vehicle analysis and vehicle maintenance in an agile context as a software developer in the field of web-based backend development.
University's stand: 78120 Furtwangen, Germany
Faculty: Computer Science
Studies: General Informatics - Specialization in Software Engineering (B.Sc.)
(03/2019 - 02/2023)
The HFU is one of Germany's leading universities, located in the Black Forest.
Because of my already before steadily increasing interest in computer science, I decided to take the opportunity and study General Informatics (AIN) at the HFU. Information on AIN-modules are provided at my "Study"-Page.
During my study summer vacation in 2019, I was able to work voluntary at a non-profit aid organization called Freiburger Tafel e. V., which is supporting people in need of foods.
With the absolvation of my basic studies in winter semester 2019/2020, I thankfully received the award "Best Basic Studies" (IN, HFU), presented by the company doubleSlash Net-Business GmbH as a cooperation partner and a founding member of the industrial advisory board of the HFU's Faculty of Computer Science.
For my further studies, I chose Software Engineering as specialization.
At the beginning of my studies fourth semester (AIN4 - SWE) I took the opportunity to support the students of AIN3 as a tutor (marginal employment) for the accompanying practical training of the lecture "Software Engineering".
The HFU holds partnerships with other universities around the world. International students however sometimes may have difficulties meeting other students and finding new friends, especially in times of restrictions due to the general healthcare-situation in 2020/2021. This was the reason, why I took the chance to participate in the WiSe's 2020/2021 "Buddy-Program", which supports Internationals actively by getting them comfortable with their new environment in Furtwangen and at the HFU itself.
With my fifth semester (AIN5 - SWE) being a compulsory internship, I could gather first, very important work experience in the field of Software Development at the company doubleSlash Net-Business GmbH with high experience in IT-Consulting and Software development for various internationally operating companies of different fields.
For the in me placed trust, the great teamwork as well as being able to participate in exciting, internal and agile projects actively, I am very thankful.
In my sixth curriculum semester (AIN6 - SWE), I gladly took the opportunity to absolve a semester abroad at the Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech), being a partner university of the HFU.
Through this, the professional training for General Informatics has been effectively combined with strong intercultural exchange.
Further personal, to me important experiences were made in a fascinating environment with equally friendly and open minded people.
In addition, through an international surrounding and the in english thaught modules I was enrolled in, my english skills were strengthened further as well as first basic knowledge in Korean language was gathered.
After AIN6 - SWE, I was absolving an voluntary internship at the company Vector Informatik in Stuttgart. I am very thankful for the first insights I received in the the thrilling working field of Embedded Systems, as well as for the further software development experiences I could gather.
In the following AIN7 - SWE, I gladly received the opportunity to work on my thesis externally at doubleSlash Net-Business GmbH. Besides the thesis, I will keep the nice teamwork as well as the great working environment across the different teams in good memory, too.
For all the important insights, all the valuable experiences, and last but not least for having the possibility of taking the studies itself, which I was able to successfully absolve at the HFU, I am very thankful - I will look back always fondly on what constantly was an exciting time for me.
For personal reasons, I decided to take the for me very appealing opportunity to start as a software developer in the mobility sector of Deutsche Bahn at DB Systel GmbH, while also being able to live in my home area with people who are personally close to me.
Company's stand: 79427 Eschbach, Germany
Main focus: Print media
Employed as: Seasonal worker, section calendar finishing (11/2018 - 12/2018)
CEWE is represented throughout Europe as a innovative manufacturer and supplier of print media.
To initially bridge an application phase and also to receive insights in CEWE's technology-based production and it's automated shipping processes, I worked as a seasonal power with tasks like the guidance of machines, final product control of calendars and partly support of the shipping division.
Beeing part of a new set production-team, to build well-coordinated teamwork in a short time was as essential as thoroughly and efficient work.
I was able to get an further understanding of production technologies and enthralling insights of automated shipping processes including DTS, showing me the possibilites of the seamless interplay of soft- and hardware.
My experiences at CEWE eventually convinced me to take a step forward and turn myself to computer science by starting a degree in General Informatics at the
Hochschule Furtwangen University.
Town hall's stand: 79219 Staufen im Breisgau, Germany
Main focus: Public management
Apprenticeship: Local and federal state level administrative assistant (09/2015 - 02/2018)
Employed as: Administrative assistant, financial department (02/2018 - 08/2018)
Because of my joy in versatile work, I decided to apply for an apprenticeship as an administrative assistant at the local government Staufen and got accepted.
Staufen has several departments for public management and administration purposes.
During my 2.5 years of apprenticeship, I went through departments like the General Office for Administration, the Personal Dpt., the Construction Dpt., the Financial Dpt. and the Regulatory Dpt., as well as through the Citizen Office - in between alternating with blocks of vocational school with a main focus on public law. Although I had previous knowledge of economical and private law due to my economically oriented high school graduation, I had difficulties with the large subject areas of public regulations in theoretical use, which made it challenging for me.
Throughout my apprenticeship I could strengthen my analytical skills, persistence and flexibility. Furthermore, I significantly improved my management and organisation skills. I enjoyed working independently as much as working in teams, by which communication became a matter of course to me.
Because of my interest in economy and digit-based work, I took the chance to support the Financial Dpt. of Staufen after completion of my apprenticeship as a full-time administrative assistant - due to full occupation with a time limitation to six months. A part of my tasks were stocktaking and preliminary posting of invoices, requiring concentrated
and conscientiously working.
After work however, I sometimes reflected about how to make a work-process more efficient by possibly automate it with specific software, promoting my general interest in software engineering and automation.
Although I became uncertain whether the tasks can meet my expectations in the long term, I always enjoyed the varied work and I am grateful for the trust that was put in me during my time at the local government Staufen.
Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds
Foundation's stand: 7411 Cape Town, South Africa
Main focus: Animal health care
Employed as: Volunteer (02/2015 - 03/2015)
After my graduation from high school and first work experiences at amongst others Hekatron, I wanted to gain experience abroad by doing an voluntariate. I informed myself about a wide range of options and quickly made my decision to join and support SANCCOB, which does health care for hurt or weak seabirds as a non-profit organization in southern africa.
During my two-month voluntariate I was able to work in diversing sections with various bird species, all with differing needs of health care. Besides preparing food, monitoring and hygienic aspects like cleaning the bird-habitats, I one after another learned how to hold, feed, tube and medicate the birds properly without putting them in any danger. In this way I was able to adapt myself quickly into different situations - I became more flexible and conscientious.
Teamwork was required during the whole time at SANCCOB and became essential to me. At the end of my volontariate, I received the trust to supervise smaller teams, which thaught me to take higher responsibility.
Furthermore, I improved my communication skills in english by working and becoming friends with many other eager volunteers from all over the world and with great natives, too.
The imprinting experiences at SANCCOB, the friendly people, the astonishing enviroment, as well as the different but fascinating culture I have encountered during my time in South Africa were enriching and I would not want to miss any of these experiences.
Company's stand: 79295 Sulzburg, Germany
Main focus: Alarm and security systems
Employed as: Assistant for invoicing, section Fire Alarm System Technology (07/2014 - 10/2014)
Hekatron is known for its electronic manufacturing services as well as for its alarm and security systems for technical fire protection.
I took the chance to work as a temporary assistant for invoicing at Hekatron Vertriebs GmbH, gathering first insights in practical economy.
For invoicing and filing, correct and orderly work was required at all times. Altough I had made just a few experience in work before, I had no problems to be communicative and to approach colleauges in the event of difficulties. Due to increased workload, I was able to work more independent and eventually became more stress-resistant.
I enjoyed the teamwork and I am thankful for the important experiences I could make during my short but interesting period at Hekatron.
